Frequently Asked Question
I am retiring, can the University pay for my lifetime membership in XXX professional organization?
Per the University Expenditure Policy "Life memberships in a professional organization may be purchased, at the discretion of the Dean/VP, if it is anticipated that the overall cost will be less than the cost of annual memberships over the employee's anticipated tenure at the university."
So a person retiring would not qualify for payment of a lifetime membership.
That individual could pay for the membership themselves and then ask for reimbursement up to the equivalent amount of a one year membership. This is reimbursable at the unit leader's discretion.
